It provides structured guidance, sustainability tools, and a time-bound digital recognition logo, serving as a stepping stone toward full Green Key Eco-Rating certification.
The solution is designed for:
- Hotels and resorts beginning their sustainability journey.
- Small to mid-sized properties with resource constraints.
- Hospitality businesses that are not yet ready for full certification but want to take meaningful sustainability steps.
- Properties looking for an affordable and structured pathway to full certification.
Enrollment is quick and easy. Register online through the Green Key Global website, where you will receive login credentials to access the Green Key Ready questionnaire and sustainability resources. Once your payment is processed, you will gain access to implementation guides and recognition tools.
Green Key Ready is an introductory offering providing foundational sustainability tools and digital recognition, while Green Key Eco-Rating certification is a full-fledged certification program with rigorous sustainability standards and on-site verification. Green Key Ready participants are encouraged to transition to full certification within 12 months.
Green Key Ready status is valid for 12 months. Properties are encouraged to progress toward full Green Key Eco-Rating certification during this period. After 12 months, properties must either transition to full certification or be removed from the program.

Upon completing Green Key Ready, you are encouraged to transition to the Green Key Eco-Rating certification program. Participants may be eligible for special incentives or discounts when upgrading within the first year.
Currently, Green Key Ready is only available to properties in Canada and the United States. For properties outside these regions, we recommend exploring sustainability certification programs recognized internationally.
The program requires properties to complete a self-assessment covering key sustainability criteria. Additionally, the digital recognition logo is time-bound to ensure accountability, and properties must upgrade to the full Eco-Rating certification within 12 months to maintain recognition.
