Recognizing Sustainable Impact & Excellence
In collaboration with the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AHLA) Responsible Stay Initiative, Green Key Global is proud to introduce its inaugural Property of the Year Award, recognizing one exceptional U.S.-based current Green Key Eco-Rating–certified hotel that exemplifies leadership, credibility, and measurable impact in sustainability.
This award honours hotel properties that have distinguished themselves through a strong commitment to responsible operations and innovative action. Submissions are evaluated across multiple performance areas, including energy and water efficiency, waste diversion, use of technology, team engagement, and strategic partnerships, demonstrating how sustainability is embedded into day-to-day operations and long-term business strategy.
How To Enter
- To enter or nominate a property, simply complete the nomination form and upload any supporting materials, such as performance metrics, reports, photos, or optional video content.
- Submissions will be accepted until February 3rd, 2026. To be eligible, properties must be active Green Key Global Eco-Rating–certified members and demonstrate measurable sustainability outcomes from the past 12 months.
The winning property will be notified by February 6th, 2026. The award will be presented live on stage at the Responsible Stay Summit on March 3rd & 4th, 2026, in McLean, Virginia. The winning hotel representative must be available to accept the award in person. The award covers lodging and provides a travel stipend.
Terms, Conditions & Legal Notice
- By submitting a nomination or application for the Green Key Global Property of the Year Award (“Award”), the submitting property and/or nominating party (“Participant”) represents and warrants that all materials, data, metrics, statements, images, and other content submitted are accurate, complete, authentic, and owned by, or lawfully authorized for use by, the Participant.
- Participants acknowledge and agree that all submissions become the property of Green Key Global (“GKG”) and grant GKG a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right to use, reproduce, publish, adapt, distribute, and promote submitted materials, in whole or in part, for marketing, communications, educational, and promotional purposes, including but not limited to websites, reports, press releases, social media, and partner communications, with or without attribution.
- Participants confirm that the submission relates solely to a Green Key Global Eco-Rating–certified property in good standing and that the sustainability actions, performance data, and outcomes described reflect verifiable initiatives undertaken by that property within the stated eligibility period.
- All entries will be reviewed and evaluated at the sole discretion of GKG. GKG reserves the exclusive right to determine eligibility, disqualify submissions, select the Award recipient, or decline to grant the Award in any given year. All decisions made by GKG are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding judging outcomes.
- Participants agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Green Key Global, its officers, employees, partners, affiliates, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from or related to the submission, participation in the Award, use of submitted materials, or any breach of these terms.
- GKG reserves the right to verify submission content, request additional documentation, amend Award timelines, criteria, or processes, or withdraw the Award at any time without prior notice, where required to preserve program integrity.
- Submission of an entry constitutes full acceptance of these terms and conditions.
